The Raffaellesco pattern was inspired by Raphael’s 16th century frescoes in the Vatican palace. The dragon symbolizes a benevolent sea creature which rescued sailors trapped in a dead calm by blowing on the ship’s sails. Today, it is commonly believed that having a piece of Raffaellesco in your home brings blessings and good luck.
